Since time immemorial, players have been wont to challenge themselves to see how quickly they can finish a game, andMinecraftis no exception. Given that there arerecord-breaking speedruns ofElden Ringalready, something that’s been out for more than a decade is bound to have plenty in the running community with the skills and dedication to get to the end credits in Mojang’s sandbox title. And that’s exactly what some have been doing over the years. In some cases, they’ve even got a group together to make it a team effort.
As spotted by PCGamesN, user M8use, along with four other players, have managed to get to the end ofMinecraftin less than two minutes. Given that there were multiple pieces of footage running simultaneously during the video, the actual time differs depending on which screen viewers are looking at. The quickest shows it at 1:55 and the slowest at 1:57. Speedrun.com shows the final time as 1:56. In any case, it’s a new world record, and just watching the run is a blink-and-miss-it experience with each player being given a specific task to do as they work together.

to do a speedrun successfully, players must defeatMinecraft’s final boss the Ender Dragon. The actual battle itself, especially with multiple players, is just a small part of the challenge, with the majority of the run is dedicated to gathering the necessary items, as well as locating the End Portal. This particular attempt was done in what’s known as the SSG or “set seed glitchless” category, which means it was done in a chosen seed rather than a random one and without exploiting any bugs.
There are other ways that the game can be run, as well. Last year, FrozenMelody was able tospeedrunMinecraftin half an hour while wearing a blindfold. To be able to do a speedrun of any game is impressive, but to do so without being able to see at all is just an insane challenge. Given that M8use and co were able to do it in less than two minutes, half an hour sounds long, but with the player having to navigate on sound alone, that is a mightily incredible feat.
Runners are considered to be pretty talented people and for anyone who is interested in getting involved, there are a number ofvideo games that fans can learn to speedrun. It does take an enormous amount of time to get to near pixel perfect levels of play, but there are many gamers out there who are willing to take up the challenge.
Minecraftis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
