In terms of general gameplay, several bugs have been addressed relating to the game freezing in situations where a ball lands in foul territory or when the umpire freezes after the ball reaches home plate. An earlier patch released inMLB The Show 22gave starting and relief pitchers more stamina control while playing in three-inning games, and in Game Update 3, an additional change gives players a notice when a pitcher is at, or below, 25 percent stamina. The change allows players to properly strategize when to start warming up some pitchers in the bullpen in preparation for a change-up.
The Mini Seasons aspect of the game received several fixes to the bugs that have plagued the mode since release. Players can now experience less crashing when entering matches, logos featured in-game will no longer show incorrect ones unrelated to the two teams playing, and more unannounced minor problems are also addressed. One omission in the latest game update appears to be an issue relating to an error that players receive when entering the final game of the tournament. WhileSan Diego Studio has continued to announce planned fixesduring April, players are still receiving a message stating “unhandled server exception occurred.”
The tutorial aspect ofMLB The Show 22is now taken care of, as many players were affected by the tutorial program continuously playing after booting up the game, despite having completed it on the first playthrough. With the update comes an expansion on both player images, with 400 new additions added to Franchise and March To October, while an additional 600 images hit Diamond Dynasty, My Inventory, and Player Card screens. Some of the morelight-hearted and comical bugs inMLB The Show 22are now wiped from the game, and it doesn’t appear that any of the batting aspects of the game have been altered, which is one of the game’s strong points.
