Morbiusdebuted with unfortunately low ratings, as the Marvel film was revealed to not have been the greatest movie even prior to its release. The film stars Jared Leto as the iconicSpider-Mansupervillain from Marvel Comics.
Morbiusfollows the titular character in what is supposed to be an origin film for Sony’sSpider-Manuniverse. This film is more in line withVenomandLet There Be Carnagerather thanthe MCU projects, so those who haven’t seen it yet should expect to see a much darker comic film.

Recently the director, Daniel Espinosa, reacted to thepoorMorbiusreviews, as the movie sits at a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. “When I did my first feature it was a small movie called ‘Babylon Disease,'” he said to Insider. “I remember one day going home on the subway and I had a few drinks so I was a bit drunk. Someone nudged me on the train and said, ‘I have to tell you what’s wrong with the second scene in your feature’ and I was like, ‘Well, okay.’ The point I’m making is it’s a strange thing to make something so public.”
It’s clear and becoming more evident that words do hurt. Whenever a bad movie is released, it seems like people are drawn to the negativity and kick it while it’s down. “Look, I have a lot of self-hatred so I have a lot of criticism of my own work,” Espinosa continued. “I’m always trying to focus on being better. But I am also proud of what I do. There are parts in all of my movies that I’m really proud of.” It’s good to see the director appear like there’s a level of acceptance as to what happened and not letting it stop future projects.
Many people are trying to figure out what actually happened withMorbius, as many see that a lot of scenes were cut from the film. Many are wondering if this is another case of creative differences with everybody involved, which is very similar to what happen withLeto’s role as the JokerinSuicide Squad.
More may be revealed as to what’s going on over on the Sony side and why it seems that Leto can’t catch a break. Hopefully moving forward, Morbius is used in a future Marvel movie where he’s battlingSpider-Man or even Blade.
