Doommay be one of the most influential games of all time. And while Bethesda and id Software has seen massive success with the 2016 rebootand 2020’sDoom Eternal, some fans may still appreciate a journey back to the franchise’s early days.

Id recently decided to make that process a little simpler by bundling several versions ofDoomgames together on Steam. These include merging the various versions and add-ons forDoom 2andDoom 3into single Steam listings. The developer is also making several other changes to its older titles on Steam.

As the studio explained in a blog post yesterday,id Software’s library spans several decadesand includes multiple iterations of different games. This can confuse customers, as id’s Steam listings include multiple games with very similar titles. Id decided to simplify this system by merging multiple listings, renaming some, delisting others, and creating three new Steam bundles. These changes went into effect on August 10.

One of the more minor but still helpful changes is id’s decision to renameUltimate DoomtoDoom (1993). Meanwhile,Doom 2now comes bundled withFinal Doom,Doom 2 Enhanced, andMaster Levelsas one installation. Each game still launches separately, but players will be able to purchase and download them in a single package. Meanwhile,Doom 3now comes with theResurrection of Evilexpansion and2012’sDoom 3: BFG Edition, though they still require separate downloads. Additionally, players who ownDoom 3: BFG Editionreceive an upgrade to the newDoom 3bundle.

Id Software also gaveQuake 2andQuake 3Arenaa similar treatment.Quake 2now comes with itsThe ReckoningandGround Zeromission packs as a single download with different launch options. Meanwhile, Steam users can now buyQuake 3 ArenaandQuake III Team Arenaas a single package with separate downloads.

The developer is also redoing its Steam bundles, replacing the Doom Classic Complete Bundle with the Doom Classic Bundle. This bundle goes for $18.71 and includesDoom (1993),Doom 2,Doom 3, andDoom 64. Gamers can also grab the new Doom Franchise Bundle, which consists of every game in theDoomfranchise, includingDoom (2016)andDoom Eternal. Finally, the newQuake Collection Bundleis $41.20 and containsQuake,Quake 2,Quake 3 Arena,Quake Live, andQuake 4.

Note that the changes mean that id has also delisted several games. These include all the game variants and expansions that id’s merged with their parent titles, plus the demos forQuake 2,Quake 3 Arena, andQuake 3 Team Arena. These games will remain in players’ Steam libraries, but id’s removed them from the Steam store. Hopefully, these changes will help make id’s Steam listings easier for users to navigate.
