Out of all the characters you can play asin the hit platform fighterMultiversus, Rick Sanchez fromRick & Mortyis among the most complex. It’s not that he has a ton of different passives or systems to keep in mind, he just has a lot of little mechanics that overlap on top of each other.
His portals, for example, are complex enough given that he can only go through them once, and then after that point, only projectiles can pass through. But once you really get a feeling for his general gameplay loop, Rick is an absolute powerhouse of a fighter inMultiversus. With that in mind, let’s take an in-depth look at his best Perk options available, some of which may just surprise you.

Squanching Pyrotechnics
Rick’s portal has a longer cooldown, but allies that pass through a portal ignite enemies with their next melee attack. Allied projectiles that pass through a portal also ignite enemies. Enemies that pass through a portal are ignited.
To be frank, if you don’t pick this Signature Perk, the best secondary option is Well Rounded, the default Signature Perk for every character that gives them a basic 5 percent damage and defense boost. His other two Signature Perk options, those being ‘Hephaestus, Who?’ and Bit of a Stickler Meeseeks are just way too niche in their usage to be of any real use.

However, Squanching Pyrotechnics, combined with the Team Perk That’s Flammable Doc, basically ensures that your enemy is almost always going to be ignited, as long as you’re paying attention to your projectiles and portals. Plus, not only is this Signature Perk fantastic for 2v2s, but because the effects of it apply to Rick’s projectiles as well, it’s just as good in the 1v1 mode.
That’s Flammable, Doc
Your team can melee an enemy after hitting them with a projectile to ignite them. If your teammate also selects this perk, ignite damage and duration is increased.
That’s Flammable Doc is probably themost obvious Perk choiceout of any of them to slap onto Rick.This Perk doesn’t just perfectly synergize with his Squanching Pyrotechnics Signature Perk, it synergizes with about half of Rick’s moveset such as:

This means that Rick Sanchez has an absurd number of different ways he can apply the ignite debuff and only needs to hit them once to activate said debuff. And, once again, with proper usage of his Signature Perk, this is incredibly easy to do and can stack up a shocking amount of damage on his opponents just from the ignite damage alone.
Speed Force Assist
You receive a +5 percent buff to base Movement Speed.
In truth,most of the Strong Perk choicesdon’t really fit Rick’s playstyle all too well. There’s an argument to be made for Airwalker, butRick is already complicated enoughfor newer players, so we’d really only recommend that if you feel incredibly comfortable with Rick’s mechanics. Otherwise,Speed Force Assist is the best choice, as it allows Rick to be even more oppressive than he already is mid-match.
More Movement Speed is never a bad thing, especially on characters who are already quite fast, and this not only makes it easier for Rick to follow up or position himself correctly, it makes combo’ing with him a bit easier as well.

Armor Killer
Hitting an Armored enemy will briefly stop them from using Armor.
Funnily enough, having Pugilist on Rick is actually not a bad choice, as he has a whole lot of melee attacks. However,it’s not the best Standard Perk choice, that would have to go to Armor Killer instead.Because Rick has multiple ways of safely hitting opponents from a decent range, even with certain melee moves (such as his Personal Space aerial attack) Armor Killer is actually fantastic at leveling the playing field when fighting against opponents with a lot of Armored attacks such as Superman, Wonder Woman, or Garnet.

Keep in mind that Armor Killer doesn’t specify what kind of attack needs to be used, so a basic shot from Rick’s Trigger Happy neutral attack is enough to trigger this Perk if it’s used at the right time.
