Admiral Green Bull was introduced recently inOne Piecetowards the end ofthe Wano Country arc.Much to the surprise of the fans, Green Bull flew straight into Wano shortly after the fall of Kaido. Although he planned to subject the people of Wano to slavery once again, it was Shanks who ended up stopping him, sending him packing in the process. While his appearance in Wano was short-lived, fans got a good glimpse of his personality, character design, as well as the sense of justice that he holds.

In the future ofOne Piece, Gren Bull will certainly be more involved. One of the most interesting things about Green Bull’s character design is the tattoo that he has on his chest. InOne PieceSBS volume 106, Oda hinted at his past through this tattoo and it is safe to say that it is very intriguing.

Green Bull’s Appearance

When Green Bull was introduced in Wano, fans could see immediately that he had powers related to plants. Soon after, it was confirmed to the fans that he is actually a user ofa Logia Type of Devil Fruitknown asthe Mori Mori no Mi.This Devil Fruit is incredibly powerful and allows Green Bull to control forests at will. He can also become one with the forest itself and, at the same time, create vegetation wherever he goes. This power of his was evident when he stepped onto the land of Wano and spread vegetation and greenery wherever he went, reviving the land of Wano inadvertently.

As his powers were certainly very intriguing to look at, his character design was as well. Green Bull wears the traditional Marine Admiral coat on his shoulders, however, he is seen to be bare-chested. At the same time, he carries what appears to be a black blade. While the official coloring of the blade has not yet been confirmed, if it truly is a black blade, then he is one of the few people in the world to possess it. Furthermore, Green Bull also wears sunglasses and pants with a floral design, which appear to be an homage to his powers.

One of the most intriguing parts of his character design is the tattoo that he has on his chest. This tattoo runs from the very top of his chest to his abdomen, and fans were intrigued by it from the very first minute. It also has a lot to do with his personality, explained by Oda inOne Piecevolume 106 SBS corner.

Green Bull’s Tattoo

Across his torso, Green Bull bears a tattoo that reads “Shinagawa Shinju.” This loosely translates to “Double Suicide at Shinagawa,” or “The twin suicide of lovers at the Shinagawa Bridge,” and is loosely based on a Rakugo play that is quite popular in Japan. The story of the play is quite intriguing and features a courtesan and her lover. The courtesan appears to be depressed over her life, particularly her age, and after having had enough, she wants to commit suicide. She convinces a young man, believed to be her lover, to commit suicide with her.

Together, the two plan to jump off of a bridge, however, the man ends up having second thoughts at the very last moment. He doesn’t want to jump and kill himself after all, however, at this point, Osome, the woman, ends up pushing him off. The moment she has to jump herself, she receives news that some money has finally come in and now, the idea of killing herself seems pointless to her.

Osome decides to not jump after all and goes back to her work once again. Meanwhile, Kinzo, the man who is pushed off of the bridge, looks like he’s about to drown, however, he soon realizes that the part of the river where he was pushed into was actually shallow. He survives, and eventually plans to go across the world to the West, and, for the most part, that is the story of Shinagawa Shinju.

Green Bull’s Past

InOne Piecevolume 106 SBS, Oda finally talked about Green Bull’s past. The fact that he has the tattoo across his chest suggests that his past is somewhat similar to the Rakugo play. According to Oda, Green Bull’s past must have been very sad for him to have this tattoo across his chest.

Perhaps, just like Kinzo, he was pushed off a bridge by a woman, although metaphorically. It is also possible that Green Bull loved this woman very much and his past romance left a sour taste in his mouth and gave him a near-death experience.

Greenbull reveal

That said, Green Bull’s personality is that of a very cruel, and evil person. He appears to be a racist and, at the same time, nothing more than a lap dogof the Celestial Dragons. With a personality like that, it is no wonder that Green Bull was betrayed by some romantic interest of his in the past.

Furthermore, Green Bull still appears to be very fond of women, as seen on several occasions already. His past experiences have not made him wary of chasing romance, however, it had a significant effect on him, evident from the fact that he got it tattooed on his chest. The full past of Green Bull has not yet been revealed and, given that Oda hinted at it in an SBS, fans might actually never get to see what exactly happened to him. Regardless, it certainly does add quite a bit to his character.

What The Future Holds In Store For Green Bull

Green Bull is going to be extremely important in the final saga ofOne Piece. He is a character believed to possess incredible might, being an Admiral of the Navy.He is also one of the Navy’s strongest fighters and the World Government will soon be at war with the Revolutionary Army, among other powerful factions, such as the Straw Hat Pirates. Green Bull is going to be called into action very often in the Final Saga and fans should brace themselves for seeing a lot of him in fights.

Perhaps, here, fans will get to see more of his past, however, more focus should be on his powers instead since he is nothing more than an adversary for Luffy and the group. Unlike other Admirals, such as Fujitora, he doesn’t appear to be a kind-hearted individual, meaning that he will, eventually, fall in the Final Saga. Fans are very excited to see what role he plays and how well he holds up when compared to the other antagonists ofOne Piece.

The fact that Oda saved him for the Final Saga suggests that he has great plans for him, however, whether he can truly live up to the expectations of the fans or not remains to be seen. Regardless, Green Bull is now more active in the story than ever before and fans should soon see more of him as the series hurtles towards its end.
