A bug has been discovered inOverwatch 2that causes Kiriko to return to spawn when teleporting to Echo. WhileOverwatch 2is no stranger to bugssince the sequel was released in early access in October 2022, this Kiriko bug could be particularly annoying given her high pick rate in matches.
Kiriko is one of the three heroes added to the roster whenOverwatch 2was released, and since then, she has become one of the most played supports in the game. WhileKiriko’s Ultimate, Kitsune Rush, is often her star ability, she has a number of other moves to help support her team. Among these, her Swift Step allows her to teleport to nearby allies. At least, that is what it is supposed to do.

Unfortunately, fans have discovered that the character has a significant bug that could be very frustrating, depending on the situation. This issue is related to her Swift Step ability and was highlighted in a recent Reddit post by a user known as Vegetable-Depth2801. During anOverwatch 2match on the Dorado map, they showed how Swift Step did not work correctly when attempting to teleport to an allied Echo.
The Reddit video began with Kiriko attempting to heal Echo, who had used Duplicate to copy D.Va’s mech. Unfortunately, the healing was not enough, and Kiriko activated her Swift Step to teleport to Echo in order to throw her Protection Suzu. However, the support ended up in front of her spawn instead. As expected, Vegetable-Depth2801 looked around confusedly after being sent far from the battle. While it is unclear how the match ended, this bug could have cost the Reddit user’s team the victory.
When uploading the clip to Reddit, Vegetable-Depth2801 claimed the bug was “Game Breaking,” and they were not the only ones to think that there was a problem. Unsurprisingly, this Kiriko bug has caught the attention of numerousOverwatch 2players on the platform and has over 5.1K upvotes. Users have discussed the glitch in the comment section, with some providing possible reasons for Kiriko teleporting back to spawn. “I think because she was in hero select part of her ultimate it teleported you to the map origin,” one user said in reference to Echo’s Duplicate. The gamer claimed this was similar towhat happened when Kiriko teleported to players switching heroesin spawn.
It is worth noting that this teleport bug involving Kiriko and Echo only seems to appear at specific points when Echo is using her Ultimate, meaning that it should not be that common. Regardless, it is doubtlessly frustrating to players when it happens at a pivotal point in a match. It will be interesting to see how Blizzard addresses this bug in the coming weeks. Until then, players will want to be careful teleporting to Echo whenplaying Kiriko inOverwatch 2.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
