Not all revelations aboutPayday 3have been well received by fans of the franchise. The previousannouncement thatPayday 3will be always onlineeven for solo players was a disappointment to many, given the myriad issues and limitations associated with live-service video games. Despite some fan reservations, the team behindPayday 3clearly has big plans for the title, as indicated by a content roadmap recently released on Twitter. This announcement lists four major DLC expansions planned forPayday 3, to be released over the course of a year following the game’s launch. So far, there is no confirmed information about the content each DLC pack will contain, beyond their names: Syntax Error, Boys in Blue, The Land of the Free, and Fear and Greed. This roadmap seems to line up withpreviously announcedPayday 3content plans.
In addition to the major DLCs, the roadmap also promises a variety of additional content to be released during the same time frame. These offerings include seasonal events, new playable characters, skills and weapons, cosmetic items, and more. Fans of the franchise will recognize similarities to the types of content that has been released forPayday 2over the years, and will no doubt be eager to see how thecontent inPayday 3improves on its predecessor.
Those who just can’t wait to try this new title canjoin thePayday 3open beta, which is running once again from September 8-11. However, this beta will be based on an older build than the one that is going to release later this month, so fans will just have to bide their time until launch to see whatPayday 3really has to offer. Given the deep and enduring passion so many players have forPayday 2,this sequel will have to do a lot of work to outshine its predecessor.
Payday 3releases on September 21 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
