Destiny 2is heading into its summer reveal period, and Bungie has a lot to prove.Season of the Worthy has disappointedthe majority of the fanbase but Bungie had stated earlier that the summer season would be “like no other time inDestiny.”
Season of Opulence was the best season duringForsaken, and made players hopeful aboutDestiny 2’s future. Bungie may be planning yet another beefy summer season to bring players back and prepare them for the big annual release. In its blog post, the studio had alluded to the fact thatDestiny 2’s next seasonmight tie closely to the expansion since they’re apparently going to be revealed at the same time.

Regardless, players currently have nothing but a sound recording to go off of as far as future story teasers are concerned. Lore aficionados have turned to speculation, as there is the chance that fans may not get another story teaser until the next season actually begins.
One theory by the user SmashEffect ties together previous expansions with the recent seasons. They’ve stated that the seasons in Year 3 have followed the chronology ofDestiny 2expansions, with each season echoing a previous expansion. If this trend is true, next season will be a continuation ofForsakenand end with players finallyterminating the curse on the Dreaming Cityvia the help of Osiris and Rasputin, both of whom were contacted in the past about the never-ending curse. This culmination would fulfill Bungie’s dream of ‘everything coming together’ in Season 11, as the heroes of the previous seasons will join forces to end a major threat.
A second theory concerns a story thread left unanswered byForsakenbut weaves it into other storylines. User cheesekun4 emphasizes that a lot of lore was introduced around the Seven Seraphs, Rasputin, Felwinter, and SIVA. It seems likely that Bungie wants to follow these threads, all of which center around the Cosmodrome, an area that is currently under quarantine but one that needs to be investigated.
Moreover, late last year,Bungie hinted at Uldren Sov spending his time in the EDZ, alone, due to the hostility Guardians have shown towards him. This unfriendly environment might’ve pushed the Forsaken Prince into the Cosmodrome, a location not far from the EDZ but one that isn’t normally patrolled by Guardians. This is where players may finally run into Uldren.
Interestingly, early Destiny story trailers had depicted Uldren alone in the Cosmodrome, but that idea was scrapped. Next season can be a way for Bungie to pay homage to those concepts. Plus,the Cosmodrome is already a part ofDestiny 2thanks to New Light, so, the studio won’t have to port over a zone just for one season.
