It’s safe to say that many fans of the original Generation 4Pokemongames were left feeling dissatisfied with the Sinnoh remakes that were released near the end of 2021, which has only led to many fans of the series discussing howPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlcould’ve been made far more interesting with the addition of certain features. Crafting the perfect remake is generally a challenging task for developers, but manyPokemonfans feel that the Generation 4 remakes were a little too similar to the originals.
As many in thePokemoncommunity will know, the originalPokemon Diamond and Pearlalong withPokemon Platinumare games close to the hearts of many Trainers in the world, even being the firstPokemongames for a lot of veteran players. With that in mind, it’s fair to say that adhering to the original nostalgic values while also introducing new gameplay features and story elements is a near-impossible task to get right, and such remakes rarely appeal to all fans. WhilethePokemonfranchise itself is no stranger to remakesand is often praised for what was achieved inPokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, the more recent Sinnoh remakes, unfortunately, didn’t go down so well with the community due to a lack of intriguing new additions, which neglected the past decade of the series' gameplay innovations.

As always, fans stepped up to suggest how the ideal Sinnoh experience could be crafted with the addition of a few ingredients seen in many other titles throughout the franchise. One fan named Choice_Program_2846 on Reddit posted an image that detailed how the remakes could’ve been made perfect with the introduction of Sinnohan forms, the inclusion of content seen exclusively inPokemon Platinum, and the return of features such as Mega Evolution and the Battle Frontier. These are only a few of the key suggestions made by the player, as the list also includes no end of features seen in more recent games that were lacking in the Gen 4 remakes. Some players also feel thatBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlshould’ve been made using full 3D graphicssimilar to what is seen in the most modern titles.
Of course, the much more popularPokemon Legends: Arceusgave far more depth to the Sinnoh region and ticked off things on fans' wishlists. Including the introduction of true, open-world gameplay, new regional exclusive Pokemon, and evennew forms for certain Legendary Pokemon,Pokemon Legends: Arceusallowed fans to experience Sinnoh in a whole new way - even if it wasn’t a remake.
While many veteran fans of the franchise were disappointed with the state of the remakes of these beloved games,Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearldid nonetheless offer a worthwhile experience to many fans who never had the chance to play the originals. Even so, players are hoping thatGame Freak doesn’t outsource its next remakesas it did withBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
