APokemonfan made an adorable Squirtle terrarium and shared it with the community. With thePokemonfranchise having over 1,000 Pokemon, including the upcoming ninth generation inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, fans use the expansive world and content to come up with artwork inspired by their favorite characters in the game and the TV series.

Thefirst generation ofPokemonis still an iconic bunch because fans were introduced to the Kanto Region starters: Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. The anime made them even more popular as viewers saw Ash Ketchum’s friendship with his Pokemon. Squirtle, in particular, also became a favorite with fans because of its cute, turtle-like design and powerful water abilities against Grass and Rock types. So, it’s no surprise that it’s been used in various fan-made art and merchandise.

On Reddit, user Essoviark shared their take on a Squirtle terrarium. They created a miniature riverside setting with a small Squirtle figurine lying face down on the ground. In the comments, they explained that they cut a Christmas ball ornament in half and painted one half to look like a Pokeball. They used fake grass and items they foraged from their garden to create the tiny trees, logs, and red flowers in the dome.

Fans found the Squirtle terrarium cute, with some saying that they could relate to the Pokemon’s funny yet chill position. They also joked that someone should check on Squirtle if it’s okay. This isn’t the first fan-made Pokemon terrarium. Recently, an artist shared her impressive,winter-inspired Pikachu terrarium.

While terrariums are usually assembled in clear glass containers, fans usually get creative with theirs. For instance, one made a Cubone terrariumwhere they placed the skull on top of their plant’s branch. It was named “Marowak’s final resting place,” which references the detail that Cubone wears the skull of their dead mother, presumably a Marowak. Another fan used an old Game Boy with a Bulbasaur figure inside for their terrarium.

Pokemonhas also released terrariums as official merchandise, but a lot of them are only available in Japan. It’s also important to point out that the official terrariums only contain toy figurines from various generations. WithPokemon Scarlet and Violetcoming out, fans might expect another set of terrariums based on the ninth generation of Pokemon. If not, fans would still be happy with other merchandise, like plushies for Fuecoco, Sprigatito, Quaxly, and others.
