One talentedPokemonfan has taken the time to re-imagine Eevee and its entire evolutionary line as if the critter had been designed forNeopetsinstead. WhileNeopetshas been under a considerable amount of stressover the last few years, it’s still home to an active, loyal player base. Much like Game Freak’s hit RPG,Neopetsrevolves around cute, fantasy-like creatures that Eevee would certainly fit in with.
However,NeopetsandPokemonfunction rather differently from each other, and one of these differences isNeopets'“Paintbrush” feature. In the world of Neopia, there are magical paintbrushes that can change the form of some pets. The hope of obtaining their favorite painted pets is one of the biggest reasons that so many people keep playing. This paintbrush mechanic was used by the artist to give Eevee its evolved forms in Neopia to help the redesign feel much more authentic.

GinjaNinjaOwO, otherwise known as Rea, is a YouTuber who typically does “speedpaints” where they talk about their art process over a time-lapse. While their Eevee Neopets video was made as a relaxing art challenge compared to their other projects, a considerable amount of work wentinto redesigning the Pokemonwith twelve different paintbrush color variations they made in the end, including extras such as Baby, Royalboy and girl, and Tyrannian. Even as some of the most obvious color choices didn’t entirely match up with the design of the critter in question, an alternate color was made to fill in the blanks.
As people watch Rea draw the redesigned creatures, they go over their normal routine while playing the browser game. Fans in the comments, including Rea themselves, make it clear that Rea’s way of playing Neopets isn’t entirely what many would consider “fun,” but it’s to be expected for a website with a known out-of-control economy wherea black market for dream Neopets purchasesexists. Still, it makes the artist happy, which means that the game is serving its purpose.
Neopetsfans andPokemonfans are coming together and adoring Rea’s designs in the comments, with fans of the browser game saying that it’s refreshing to see someone talk aboutNeopetsin such detail after the site’s become rather obscure as of late. The care Rea has for the site can clearly be felt through both the designs and just how much they talk about their dedication to completing their own personal goals.
GinjaNinjaOwO has made a name for themselves by drawing numerous “Fakemon” designs since 2020, namely a large-scale project where they aim to swap the concepts forPikachu and Eeveearound. As a result, fans who like Rea’s work on theNeopets-inspired Eevee should check out their videos for more interestingPokemonart.
