The first week of February is about to come to a close and that triggers the first major Mega Battle Raid rotation inPokemon GO. As players finish recovering from their toughbattles against Mega Aerodactylover the last month, it’s time to start preparing their battle rosters for the next Mega challenger to arrive in the mobile AR game.
The second week of February’s event calendar puts Mega Houndoom into rotation and offers players another chance to stock up Mega Candy for one ofthe most powerful Dark-type Pokemonin thePoGOmetagame. Mega Houndoom can be a tough fight, butPokemon GOtrainers who assemble the right counters can likely take down this boss with just three or four other high-level friends side by side. This particular rotation and boss appearance lasts until Tuesday, August 04, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time, so interested players still have some time to prepare for the fight and head out into the battle.

As experienced raiders are likely aware, Mega Houndoom is a Dark-/Fire-type Pokemon, which makes it a pretty interesting match up. Trainers can focus on countering the boss by assembling a roster of Rock-, Fighting-, Water-, andGround-type Pokemon. It’s going to be strong against a lot of the other types, so attempt to stick just to those counters for the full roster lineup if possible.
That list of weaknesses offersPoGOplayers a lot of counter options and some trainers likely already have some of the strongest options lined up with the right move sets and high CP. Players who are not in that situation may want to consider investing someCandy, Stardust, and TMsto prepare a solid roster before heading out to Mega Houndoom Battle Raids…
Best Mega Houndoom Counters (February 2022)
PoGOplayers without a massive inventory of legendaries should keep in mind that they do not need to have the exact list of counters outlined above to succeed in this battle. As long as they team up with enough friends and focus on exploiting Mega Houndoom’s weaknesses, they should be able to successfully take down the boss and earn some ofthose valuable Mega Candies. For the Mega Houndoom battle, that means searching for the best Rock-, Fighting-, Water-, and Ground-type available and creating the most powerful roster available. Be sure to avoid Mega Houndoom’s strengths and don’t be afraid to use some TMs, Stardust, and Candy to get a roster up to a respectable power level before burning a Raid Pass and joining any active battles.
Mega Raid note:Remember that completing this Mega Battle Raid does not mean players get a chance to capture Mega Houndoom. Instead, players can encounter regular Houndoom as a reward and will earn Mega Candy that can be used towards that temporary evolution in the future.
