A new league has been added toPokemon GOfor players to compete against each other, allowing them to earn new PVP rewards. The new league is known as the Master League Classic, which functions similarly to the game’s normal Master League. There are, however, a few restrictions that may eliminate key members of certain players' teams.
Like the normal Master League inPokemon GO, Master League Classic has no limit for CP when it comes to players' team members. However, Pokemon that have been boosted via XL Candy are barred from entering. This means that only Pokemon that have been boosted via normal candy or rare candy can be used for the Master League Classic.

Because of this limitation, the meta for the Master League Classic is similar to the meta for the normal Master League. Players however need to keep in mind that the single use of anyXL Candy on a Pokemonwill forever prevent the Pokemon from participating in the Classic version. These Pokemon are not barred from the normal Master League and can still be used there.
With there being hundreds of Pokemon available inPokemon GO, there are many powerful choices that players can use against other trainers. Some have seen more victories than others, with many Legendary Pokemon being known for their usage in battle.
As of December 2020, the top contenders inPokemon GO’s Master League Classic are:
The majority of the Pokemon seen in the Master League Classic areLegendary Pokemon, meaning that players who do not already own these Pokemon will need to participate in raids during times where these Pokemon are active. Others are powerful shadow Pokemon that can be caught from members of Team GO Rocket out in the world.
While these Pokemon are currently dominating the higher-ranked battles inPokemon GO’s PVP scene, this meta is always subject to change as more Pokemon and moves are implemented intoPokemon GO. This is very likely to happen soon as more and morePokemon from the Kalos regionare added into the game with their own unique stats and skills.
Pokemon GOis available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
