Amidst the big online issue of its pandemic features changes,Pokemon GOcontinues to prepare for its upcomingPokemon GOFest 2021. Niantic seems to be pulling out all the stops and has recently revealed the official costumes that the featured Pokemon will be wearing when players catch them during the event.
For those unfamiliar with the event,Pokemon GOFest 2021 will last for two days, from July 17-18, 2021. Players around the world will have to collaborate during that time period to finish objectives, collect rewards, and, ultimately, vanquish theevil Team GO Rocket. For Niantic, the event seems to be quite important, given that official commemorative Pokemon GO Fest shirts will be made available for purchase in the US, Canada, and Japan.

On TheSilphRoad subReddit, user lewmyd posted a photo of the different costumed Pokemon that will be featured inPokemon GOFest 2021. These include thePokemon SwordandShieldexclusive Pokemonsuch as Galarian Zigzagoon and Galarian Ponyta. The other two are Psychic and Fairy Pokemon Gardevoir as well as the Ground/Dragon-Type Flygon. Each of these four Pokemon are seen wearing new headgear that will likely remind players of the hats included with typical band uniforms. Given thatPokemon GOFest 2021 is music-themed, where gamers have to choose members of their band, the new hat designs seem more than appropriate.
However, replies of fans on the Reddit thread seem to showcase ire and disappointment. Many users are not satisfied with the costume, given that only these small hats were added to the featured Pokemon. Others were expecting more elaborate outfits, especially sincePokemon GOFest is one of the bigger events to be hosted by the mobile title. Given thefanbase’s recent unhappy reactions towards Niantic’s announcements, this kind of reaction seems like a pretty accurate reflection of the current state of the Pokemon GO community.
On the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, however,new outfits for the Electric Pokemon Pikachuwere revealed. Male Pikachu will be wearing a rock-themed outfit, while female Pikachu will don a pop-themed ensemble. User lewmyd did not mention these outfits on the Reddit thread, so fans can only speculate if these costumes will be part of the event.
Nevertheless, withPokemon GOFest 2021 still a few weeks away, Niantic will likely share more information about the event when its implementation date draws nearer. Hopefully the developers announce more exclusive bonuses and features that will further entice new and returning players to check out the upcomingPokemon GOactivity.
