Since Game Freak releasedPokemon Scarlet and Violetlast month, several glitches have been discovered including one that reveals what Diglett looks like underground. Since Diglett was first introduced in the initial generation ofPokemon, Game Freak has kept the underside of the Ground-type Pokemon secret from players until thisPokemon Scarlet and Violetglitch.
Reddit user Glittering_Help8576 recently shared a screenshot of their Diglett evolving which glitches through the nearby ground to show what the underside of the Pokemon and Paldea look like. Diglett is one of many Gen 1 Pokemon featured in thePokemon Scarlet and VioletPokedex, and although it received aregional variant withPokemon Sun and Moon, it has the original appearance in Gen 9. While Wiglett first appeared to be a Paldean variant of Diglett when it was unveiled, it’s featured alongside the Gen 1 line of Pokemon and has its own unique evolution, Wugtrio.

Glittering_Help8576’s image shows the evolution text at the base of the screen, and theopen world ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Paldeais clipped in a way that shows the grass floating in midair. With the camera focused on Diglett and clipping through the ground,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetfans are able to see a diamond-shaped rock that’s smoothed out and is holding the bottom of Diglett like a cup holding ice cream. Although the screenshot doesn’t focus on the full evolution process, it’s possible that this rock clump is then simply made larger when it grows by two to become Dugtrio.
The plethora ofglitches inPokemon Scarlet and Violethave made clipping through the ground as the camera has in Glittering_Help8576 screenshot possible, with some players even falling through what’s supposed to be solid ground. Underneath the Diglett in what may be a long distance,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s coast can be seen in Glittering_Help8576’s image, with a large boulder that’s seen in the background also extending beneath the invisible patch of ground. A small Rotom Pokedex can also be seen on the right side of Glittering_Help8576’s screenshot as it’s preparing to update with information about Dugtrio, something that the living Pokedex does upon each new discovery.
As multiplePokemon Scarlet and Violetfans speculated on what could be within this rocky structure underneath Diglett, another questioned how it could possibly learn theNormal-typePokemonmove Slash if it doesn’t have claws. OnePokemonfan suggested that thisPokemon Scarlet and VioletDiglett is simply headless and that they’re actually supposed to have sculpted bodies underground, while a researched observer referenced a comment from Hironobu Yoshida directly that hints Diglett has a hand hidden below the ground.
