Summary

While it was at first criticized for the way its graphics looked based on pre-launch trailers,Pokemon Legends: Arceuswent on to not only become a massive financial success, but also a beloved title that made significant and ground-breaking changes to the classic formula of the series. Many fans have since been expecting The Pokemon Company to announce a sequel of sorts, with a new game based on any other region in the franchise’s history, possibly retaining the same gameplay loop of the original. Maybe not the most logical progression for the series, but seeingaPokemon Legends Galargamenext would be a great way to fix what was wrong with Gen 8 and capitalize on the potential of the region’s past.

APokemon Legends Unovagame seems the most likely to show up, if any, considering that Gen 5 games are due for a remake after Gen 4’sPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Yet, Galar has unfinished business in thePokemonuniverse, with several threads left hanging as well as potential stories left untapped. More importantly, there would be a few Pokemon that would make a lot of sense to see in an ancient version of Galar, possibly with new evolutions or regional forms.

Skarmory

Long cited among the best Pokemon around simply thanks to its incredibly powerful type combo inPokemongames, Skarmory has been around since Gen 2, and it could use a fresh coat of paint with either an evolution or regional form in aPokemon Legends: Arceussequel. This is because it’s mentioned in the Pokedex that Skarmory and Corviknight have intense fights over territory, and with Corviknight being one of the most iconic Pokemon in Galar, it makes sense that a past version of the region would feature Galarian Skarmory or a cross-gen evolution for it.

Zangoose and Seviper

Galar interestingly has the most rivals of anyPokemongame, with a total of five (four of which players will encounter in a single playthrough, including DLC, as Klara and Avery are version-exclusive), and that could be the catalyst for a unique concept in a Legends game. Zangoose and Seviper have been in-game rivals ever since they were introduced in Gen 3, and aPokemon Legends Arceussequelcould give both of them a regional form where they are either even fiercer rivals or, for the first time, they live harmoniously without fights between their species.

Luvdisc

Luvdisc is often considered one of the most underwhelming Pokemon to date due to its low base stat total, design, and lack of special moves or forms. Gen 3’sPokemon Emeraldfeatured a Pokedex entry talking about how Luvdisc specimens like to make Corsola branches their nests, and withPokemon Sword and Shield’s Galarian Corsolabeing a different take on the Gen 2 critter that also happens to evolve, Luvdisc could finally get some love. APokemon Legends Galargame could bring back Galarian Corsola and Cursola, and then make a regional form for Luvdisc that evolves into a different Pokemon to adapt to Cursola’s branches, instead - maybe more like a moray eel.

Lechonk

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Lechonkimmediately became an online sensation the moment it was revealed due to its cute looks and meme-like name. APokemon Legends Galargame has a chance to take this to the next level thanks to Appletun, whose Gen 9 Pokedex entries state that Lechonk likes to lick the sweet nectar on the mon’s back, forcing it to spew gooey juice to scare the pig-like creature. A Galarian Lechonk could maybe be stronger and even have a further evolution to prevail against Appletun and finally lick that nectar.

Pokemon Legends: Arceusis available for Nintendo Switch.
