Summary

Recent comments from a reputable leaker suggest that theResident Evil 9reveal may take longer than expected, as the project may have been internally delayed. TheResident Evilfranchise remains one of Capcom’s biggest moneymakers, and soResident Evil 9is an inevitability. It’s a matter of “when"Resident Evil 9comes out, not “if,” though it seems fans may have to wait longer than originally expected to play the game for themselves.

Capcom has released a newResident Evilgame of some kind almost every year since the original launched in 1996. In fact, Capcom has been on aResident Evilstreaksince 2019, with at least one newREproject releasing every year for five years straight. According to arecent Discord commentby reputableResident Evilseries leaker AestheticGamer,Resident Evil 9"might’ve been internally delayed some for one reason or another,” and so now it may not be revealed this year and released in 2025 as was once apparently planned. They clarified that this is not “unusual” for the franchise. And while some fans may not be happy to learn that they will potentially have to wait longer to playResident Evil 9than expected, the good news is that a different game in the series may help tide them over.

Resident Evil 9 May Be Delayed, But a Different RE Project Could Be on the Way

In the same comment, AestheticGamer said that they have “seen it suggested” that a differentResident Evilgame could be announced and released beforeResident Evil 9now, thanks to the latter’s apparent internal delay. They didn’t provide many specifics on what this mysteriousResident Evilproject would entail, but that they think it is “pretty funny” and “would catch a lot of people off guard.” Capcom has released all kinds ofResident Evilspin-offsand remakes over the years, and so it’s really anyone’s guess as to what the project AestheticGamer is alluding to could be about.

BesidesResident Evil 9, it’s been persistently rumored that Capcom is gearing up to release aResident Evil 5remake. There are some fans who are excited about this prospect, but there are others who are disappointed that Capcom is seemingly skipping overCode: Veronicaentirely. Capcom has shown a clear desire to remake basically every main seriesResident Evilgame, though, so one has to imagine that all the heavy hitters will get the remake treatment at one point or another.
