Summary
Major changes are coming toGenshin Impact, as Version 5.0 is expected to raise the cap to Level 100.Genshin Impacthas focused on adding more quality-of-life features in the Fontaine era, but the defining concepts for the region of Natlan are expected to be mounts and the ability to reach Level 100. Mounts will no doubt be a fun addition to the exploration loop ofGenshin Impact, but the full ramifications of raising the level cap have yet to be explained.
The reason for the confusion stems from both a lack of information from reliable sources and the possibility of Level 100 potentially adding new Ascension passives to existing characters. Ideally, HoYoverse will use this as an opportunity tofix certain characters inGenshin Impactwho have fallen behind in the meta, such as Albedo or Dehya. However, given that the game has over eighty playable characters, this may prove to be a Herculean task.

Though this is not the first leak that has mentioned anew level cap inGenshin Impact, user Litian Moments is the first to share details on how players will be able to reach Level 100 once Version 5.0 goes live in August 2024. Specifically, thenew leak claims that getting to Level 100will require special materials obtained through the Spiral Abyss, with each cycle resetting the rewards.
How Players Can Reach Level 100 In Genshin Impact
The journey towards the new level cap is fairly straightforward. There will seemingly be no need to farm experience books, as ascending aGenshin Impactcharacterto the final tier will immediately grant them Level 100. While there is no confirmation of new Ascension passives, the talent cap is being raised to Level 15. Raising the rank of a single talent will require the new Spiral Abyss material on top of the talent materials unique to each character. There is currently no information about whether Tartaglia’s passive will work at Level 15.
There is one major downside to the new system: to raise a single character to Level 100 and fully upgrade one of their skills, it will take three months due to the way the Spiral Abyss is time-gated inGenshin Impact. The recent changeresets the Spiral Abyss once per month, which implies that it may take a whole year for players to upgrade a full team to the new level cap. While leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, players are hoping that if the new information is true, HoYoverse will loosen the talent upgrade requirements for the new Ascension Rank.
