Rumors have been swirling for years now thatHalo Infiniteis going to get a battle royale mode of some kind, though nothing official has been announced. The latest rumor comes from a credible source, though, and if the information is accurate, it seems thatHalo Infinite’s battle royale mode is going to be “huge.”
The latest on the long-rumoredHalo Infinitebattle royale modecomes from Jez Corden of Windows Central, who was speaking on The Xbox Two podcast (as spotted by Pure Xbox). While on the podcast, Corden indicated thatHalo Infinitehas a battle royale mode in the works that’s being developed by Certain Affinity, a studio that has worked on theHalofranchise in some capacity since it released multiplayer DLC forHalo 2all the way back in 2007.

Corden is unsure exactly how thisHalo Infinitebattle royale is going to work, but said that it’s been in development for over two years. “This is a bigCall of Duty: Warzonescale undertaking,” Corden said, going as far as to say that the mode is “basically like a separate game.” This isn’t the first time that we’ve heardCertain Affinity could be working on theHaloBR, so it will definitely be interesting to see if it comes to fruition.
As for when theHalo Infinitebattle royale mode will be added, Corden believes that it could possibly be introduced as part of Season 3. As it stands,Halo InfiniteSeason 2 is just starting on May 3, and so fans can expect to be waiting quite a while before getting to play the BR. Assuming the BR is real, a safe bet would it being added toHalo Infiniteat the end of the year.
Based on this latest report, it seems as thoughHalo InfiniteBR ambitions are much bigger than previously believed. A previous leak revealed thatHalo Infiniteis getting a Last Spartan Standing modethat sounds as though it will have BR mechanics, but that will be much smaller in scale than what Certain Affinity is allegedly working on. Hopefully more information on the mode comes sooner rather than later.
If theHalo Infinitebattle royale is as big as Corden believes, it stands to reason that it could be enough to give the game a massive boost in popularity. At the time of this writing,Halo Infinite’s player count is dwindling, which has been blamed on a lack of meaningful new content updates. A BR mode could be what draws fans back toHalo Infinite, but fans will have to wait and see how it all plays out in the months ahead.
