Summary

Information about a sequel toLords of the Fallenhas potentially been leaked. This came along with details about other upcoming projects fromLords of the Fallenpublisher CI Games.

The originalLords of the Fallenfrom 2014 was one of the first games to replicate the “Soulsborne” formula. It is a video game subgenre that is defined by its extremely challenging combat encounters and bosses. This can be a dealbreaker for many, but others flock to these games for their ultimately fun and gratifying gameplay loop. BeforeLords of the Fallen, FromSoftware was the primary developer to have offered this style of gameplay. Since then, there has been a steady rise in the number of Soulslike games released today, with last year’sLies of Pbeing particularly well received. But what also came out to great success was a new and improvedreboot ofLords of the Fallen, made by new developer Hexworks.

Soulslike games have garnered a massive fan base sinceFromSoftware popularized the genre withDemon’s Soulsback in 2009. With upcoming indie titles such asPhantom Blade ZeroandBlack Myth: Wukonghaving many gamers excited, the genre seems to be thriving.

Deck13 made an interesting and ambitious game with the originalLords of the Fallen, but last year’s successor by Hexworks made some great improvements and proved to be a worthy entry into thelong line of Soulslike gamesthat have been released over the past few years.
