It’s no doubt June is a busy month forPS Plus. The Extra and Premium tiers are just a few days off from launch, while thePS Plus free games for June 2022have also been revealed. They are the last games fans will get before the launch of the Essential tier, which may very well change how they operate.

For example, Sony’s reveal ofPS Plus Essential states that fans will get two games every month, not three. At the same time, their reveal and release timings will remain the same, but around the middle of the month, new PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be announced too. This is likely to keep the conversation around all the tiers circulating, and a current rumor suggests that the recently-revealedRollerdromewill be one of the PS Plus Extra games for August.

This rumor began over on ResetEra by user Modiz before spreading to other social media sites like Reddit. As such, fans should take this with a healthy grain of salt, but Modiz’s analysis makes sense. As fans know, the monthlyPS Plusfree games release on the first Tuesday of every month. The middle-of-the-month reveal of PS Plus Extra will likely take place at a certain time, and the release of said games will likely follow on a certain day.

According to Modiz, what supportsRollerdrome’s addition to the PS Plus Extra list of PS4 and PS5 games is actuallyStray. The game where players take on the role of a cat was recently confirmed as a day one title for thePS Plus lineup in July, andStraylaunches on the third Tuesday (the 19th) of July at 11 am ET. This is noteworthy because the PlayStation Store shows when a game launches, and it is usually some form of midnight launch. However,Strayis listed as an early 11 am launch.

Interestingly enough,Rollerdromewas at the State of Playand also appears on the PlayStation Store with an early launch time, with a confirmed release date of August 16 (or the third Tuesday of the month). Neither game is up for pre-order on the PlayStation site either, which has been a telltale sign of a game’s addition to the service before (so Sony can avoid refunds). That makes a pretty strong case for Rollerdrome to be part of the PS Plus Extra lineup (and if it’s available on Extra, PS Plus Premium users will get it too).

While this could be a coincidence, it is rather convincing. If PS Plus free games continue to release on the first Tuesday of every month, then it would make sense forPS Plus Extra and Premium gamesto launch on the third Tuesday. For many fans, that may be enough to check outStrayandRollerdromeat launch, which is great for the games and great for the service.
