With the PS5 reveal event rumored to be taking place in February, rumors about PlayStation’s future are everywhere. Sometimes these rumors focus on specific games, like one rumor that’s been making the rounds online aboutSpider-Man 2, which is presumably in development at Insomniac Games.
The rumor originates from a Reddit post by user v17447377. They don’t provide any evidence to back up their claims about the supposedSpider-Man 2, but cite a source at Insomniac Games. Needless to say, fans should take the information with a massive grain of salt. However, there have been enough legitimate leaks from forums like Reddit and 4chan that there’s always a chance something like this could be true.

The leak claims thatSpider-Man 2will launch in the holiday 2021 season, but will be revealed at some point this year. The game will once again feature an open world Manhattan, but will also include Queens and Brooklyn. As far as story details,Spider-Man 2will apparently featurePeter Parkertraining Miles Morales, supporting cast members like Flash Thompson and Harry Osborn, an OsCorp “cloning” story, and of course, plenty of villains.
According to the post, the new villains inSpider-Man 2include Cardiac, Carnage, Green Goblin, the Lizard, Mysterio, and Venom. How exactly these villains will all play into the story remains to be seen, but considering how well the2018Spider-ManPS4 gamebalanced its large rogues gallery, we have to imagine that the developers at Insomniac will pull it off again in the rumoredSpider-Man 2.
As far as new gameplay mechanics go, the post claims that there will beDiablo-style mechanics in the form of randomized crimes and encounters. Different aspects of these crimes will also be randomized, such as enemy placement, the type of encounter, etc.
Before fans buy into this supposedSpider-Man 2leak too much, though, they should keep their expectations in check. Rumors about the PS5 andpotential PS5 gameslikeSpider-Man 2have been all over the Internet lately, especially as evidence mounts that Sony is planning a PS5 reveal event in February. Maybe theSpider-Man 2reveal will happen at that event, but whatever the case may be, fans shouldn’t trust any information on thePS5orSpider-Man 2unless it comes from Sony itself.
