Actor Ryan Reynolds is known for several roles, but he may be most recognized for his portrayal of some popular comic book heroes. While Reynolds' experience working onWarner Bros. and DC’sGreen Lanternfilm was unsuccessful, the actor finally had a superhero hit after playing the titular role in 20th Century Fox’sDeadpool. However, the actor’s most heroic deed may have unfolded in real life after his offer of a $5000 reward led to the return of a beloved teddy bear belonging to Mara Soriano.
The bear, which contained a recorded message by Soriano’s late mother saying she loves her and is proud of her, went missing while Soriano was moving. Security footage revealed the bag containing the stuffed animal was, in fact, stolen. News of Soriano’s search for the missing bear received a significant signal boost froma Tweet by Deborah Goble, a reporter for Canada’s CBC News, which caught the attention of Reynolds. Reynolds offered the $5000 reward with no strings attached, writing in a Twitter post, “Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home.”

Whether persuaded by the reward or a guilty conscience, the thief contacted Soriano via email to make arrangements to return the bear. She reclaimed her treasure from CBC offices, delighted to discover it had come to no harm.
In a post on his official Twitter account, Reynolds thanked everyone who searched for the missing teddy bear. “To the person who took the bear, thanks for keeping it safe,” he added. Reynolds conveyed the message in response to a post made by Soriano, who announced the return of the teddy bear on her own Twitter account.
Reynolds has been an active social media user, recentlydigging into the leaked Deadpool footagethat led to the film’s production, but his recent good deed on the platform might have boosted superhero credentials for when he reprises his role as the Merc with a Mouth. While Marvel Studios has not officially announced a thirdDeadpoolsequel, Reynolds has stated that he believesanother entry in the film series would be a winfor everyone involved.
Whatever the future holds for Reynolds' Deadpool, it is comforting to know that there are still some stories that have a happy ending this year. Considering how disastrous 2020 has been up to this point, most people will probably take whatever good news they can get.
