TheSilent Hillgames are known for their tense atmospheres, horrifying denizens, and plots that offer a dose of psychological malaise that disturbs the player. But the series is much more than that. WhileKonami recently announcedSilent Hill 2hoodies, what many often remember about the games, outside the horrifying visuals, is the music. Now, a new announcement states that fans will be able to own the soundtrack to the third and fourth games, and all on some pretty nifty looking vinyls.

The vinyls for both theSilent Hillsoundtrack have been provided by Mondo Music, who specialize in limited-time records. Posting to the site a couple of days ago, the company showed off the images for each vinyl, which come with impressive, and also terrifying, sleeve artwork. BothSH3andSH4: The Roomcome as double vinyl purchases, priced at $35. According to the site, they will be available to purchase today at noon CST.

For those who are unaware, the hauntingly beautiful music that is often associated with theSilent Hillgames was composed by Akira Yamaoka. Mondo Music describes his work onSilent Hill 3as a “dichotomy” of tones, which combines an element of calm and beauty, with terror, while the music forThe Roomis described as “incredible and reliably dynamic.” Given his talent and notoriety, it’s fitting thatYamaoka was brought onboard to work onThe Mediumlast year. His compositional expertise is clearly sought after.

Unsurprisingly, there have been otherSHsoundtracks in the past. Earlier this year,Mondo Music reprinted vinyls for theSilent Hill 1and2soundtracks, as well as doing reprints forThe Last of Us. Music in games can produce a wonderful effect that compliments the visuals and gameplay. Despite the horror aspects that make up theSilent Hillgames, the atmosphere would be for naught were it nor for Yamaoka’s score, so it’s likely that these new vinyls will be popular among fans.

Of course, when talking about theSilent Hillgames, what naturally crosses people’s mind is the whereabouts of a potential new game in the series, or perhaps a reboot. With the upcomingAbandonedbeing involved in a conspiracywhich made people think it was actually a newSHgame, horror gamers are on tenterhooks at the moment and although the new merch coming out could be a hint that something else is in the works, it’s unlikely there will be a new installment any time soon, unfortunately.
