Game of Thronesstar Sophie Turner has acquired an appropriate prop from the final season of theHBOseries. The actress who portrayed Sansa Stark revealed the new item through a post on her official Instagram stories feed.
HBO’sGame of Throneschronicled the wars and alliances between multiple families vying to claim the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Over the course of the series' eight-season run, Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark grew from a frightened young girl struggling to survive the abuse of King Joffrey and Ramsay Bolton into a formidable leader who earned the confidence of the North as the Lady of Winterfell. In the series finale, Jon Snow murdered Daenerys Targaryen shortly aftershe conquered Kings Landingand left Westeros with few known individuals who had a legitimate claim to the Iron Throne. As multiple surviving characters argued over who should be named the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms following the assassination of Daenerys, Sansa declared the North’s secession from Westeros as an independent Kingdom.

In the closing moments ofGame of Thrones' final episode, Santa Stark was shown sitting in a wooden throne as the noble families crowned her the Queen in the North. Now, Turner has shared a new photo of the wooden throne with a caption reading, “welcome home.” The photo, which was also shared by Turner’s husbandJoe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, gives fans a closer look a the dire wolf carvings on the throne. Not the coziest chair in the house, but it’s certainly a conversation starter.
WhileGame of Throneswas once hailed, particularly during the early seasons, the series received more criticism towards the end of its run. That criticism culminated in largely negative reviews for the final episode, which was lambasted for multiple reasons that included what many perceived as poor handling of Daenerys Targaryen’s descent into madness. Even certain cast members, past and present, were disappointed by the final episodes of the series. Charles Dance, who portrayed Tywin Lannister until the character was killed off in the fourth season, noted thathe would sign a petitionto remake the final season.
Regardless of how fans may have felt about the series finale,Game of Thronesseason 8 still managed to win the coveted Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2019. Now, HBO is developing a prequel series following the downfall of the House Targaryen titledHouse of the Dragon, due to be released in 2022.
Still, fans could get theGame of Thronesending they hoped for in George R. R. Martin’s conclusion to theSong of Ice and Firebook series on which the HBO show is based. While it has been nearly a decade since the most recent book,A Dance with Dragons, was published, Martin recently assured fans he wasmaking progress on the forthcoming novel.
