Summary

OneStarfieldplayer andEl Chavo del Ochofan managed to recreate Ramon Valdes' Don Ramon from the classic Mexican sitcom in Bethesda’s latest game. Their achievement is yet another example of the immense versatility thattheStarfieldcharacter creatoroffers to the players.

Games that support custom protagonists have always attracted the crowd that enjoys recreating their favorite characters in interactive settings. But even among that demographic, few people are as consistent in their dedication to such tributes as Reddit user HeySoloSoyYo, who previouslyrecreated Don Ramon fromEl Chavo Del OchoinRed Dead Online.

After subsequentlyplaying throughElden Ringas Don Ramon, this staunchEl Chavo del Ochofan also decided to recreate the iconic character inStarfield. The end result of their efforts was as accurate as their past takes on the fictional widower, who is also known as Mr. Raymond in the English dub of theEl Chavo Animadoanimated series. And though the original sitcom ended its run in the early ’80s, the show still enjoys a cult following that’s sizable enough to have brought thisStarfieldrendition of Don Ramon to the front page of the r/gaming subreddit on September 6, coinciding with the RPG’s full-fledged release.

HeySoloSoyYo also shared a brief YouTube tutorial detailing the process of recreating Don Ramon inStarfield, with the sped-up video confirming what anyone who tinkered with the game’s character creator might have already suspected: this was no easy feat. Namely, even thoughStarfield’scharacter creator is immensely powerful, it is also pretty unintuitive to use. That is largely because it expects the player to sculpt the vast majority of their protagonist’s facial features with a long list of sliders that are all labeled as “shape blends” with no further explanation. This user interface tests the patience of anyone wanting to do some serious design work as it inherently necessitates a lot of trial and error.

While that’s clearly not stopping all talented fans from recreating their favorite characters inStarfield, it is certainly inhibiting such efforts. PC players struggling with realizing their protagonist ideas can at least take some solace in the fact that UI mods making the game’s character creator more intuitive to use are bound to crop up in due time. However, the wait for such overhauls to emerge might take months, astheStarfieldCreation Kit offering full mod supportthat Bethesda promised in 2021 is still without a release date.
