Stocking up on raw resources is a generally good idea inStarfield, even for players who aren’t planning on dabbling too much into the building and crafting side of things. Given how rarely materials like Polymer appear in the wild, it’s best to at least keep an eye out for a few cans of these so future research and building projects can continue unhindered.

Where to Find Polymer in Starfield

The easiest way to get Polymer is to simply buy some from vendors. General goods stores likeJemison Mercantileon New Atlantis andShepherd’son Akila City are two of the most commonly-visited places among players, though there are other stores like these that alsosell a plethora of other resources. Other stores include:

Polymer is considered anexoticorganicresource, which means players can very rarely get some for free by hunting animals or harvesting plants. Not all organic lifeforms drop Polymer, and the only way to know if they do is to fully analyze them via the scanner. Once a plant or animal is analyzed, players will know their usual habitats, temperament, and resource drops.

ConsideringStarfield’sprocedural generation, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact planets where Polymer-dropping lifeforms can be found. Players are instead urged to get out there and explore the stars. Take note that flora and fauna density is displayed on the planetary scanner, socheck that first before landingsince there are some planets that don’t support life.

Polymer does have a chance of spawning inside containers and cargo holds, and they can sometimes be found in dead bodies or as loose loot that players can pick up. However, this is far too RNG-reliant, and getting any substantial amount of Polymer via this method will take an extremely long time. Still, it’s worth keeping an eye out for Polymer cans when raiding storage shelves or maintenance bays.
