The Super Mario Bros. Moviewas not featured at the latest Nintendo Direct, but Mario’s upcoming film promotion is still running hot with two more posters being shared that showcase Luigi being captured upon entering the Mushroom Kingdom.

The newMariomovie has so far been featured in exclusive Direct presentations that have given fans an inside look at Illumination’s take on Nintendo’s most iconic game franchise, with appearances from cast members like Anya Taylor-Joy and Seth Rogen even setting up the full trailer’s reveal. Now, even if Pedro Pascal’s Mario onSaturday Night Liveappeared to be more popular than Chris Pratt’s rendition of the beloved character, it’s undeniable that there’s a lot of excitement for this cinematic Mario adventure.

Last week, anew Mario movie poster got the entire casttogether, but this time around each of the brothers is getting his own piece of artwork as Mario’s sees him jumping around in the Mushroom Kingdom platforming training grounds, yet Luigi’s is much more interesting. Judging from the film’s teaser, it’s all but guaranteed Peach won’t be the damsel in distress Mario needs to rescue this time around, instead, it’s Luigi who apparently will be abducted from the very moment he lands of the wrong part of this magical world.

In the poster, Luigi is clearly being taken off by a group of Shy Guys over to Bowser’s lair, and this gang is definitely not the fake Banzai Bills and Piranha Plants Mario is facing in the trailers but very much the real thing. The Mario movie’s world map has already teased the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser’s Castle, the Desert Land, Yoshi’s Island, the icy Penguin Kingdom, and even a version of Kong Country, so it’s just a matter of time before fans find out in which inhospitable grounds Luigi landed first.

The general plot for the Mario movie will apparently see the plumber siblings be transported to the Mushroom Kingdom where Mario will have to rescue his brother, with some help from Peach and her army of Toads of course. Although the film won’t be out until April, movie-themed toys already made their way to McDonald’s, perhaps even teasing aSuper Mario Galaxycrossover with Rosalina and Lumaappearing in the animated feature, despite a Yoshi figurine not making the cut.

In any case, Mario and Luigi should brace themselves for some cutthroat platforming as the movie’s levels and challengers might just edgesome ofSuper Mario Bros.‘hardest levels ever.

The Super Mario Bros. Movieis scheduled for release on July 12, 2025.
