TheNintendo Switchjust recently celebrated its 4th anniversary, after effectively saving Nintendo after its troubled Wii U eraas a “make or break console"and revolutionizing both handheld and home console gaming with its hybrid design. And although the console is incredibly successful, quickly becoming one of Nintendo’s best-selling consoles, it is now surrounded by a plethora of rumors and insider information about a potential console revision in the form of a Switch Pro.

While console revision leaks and rumors have been floating around for some time now, earlier this year, fans received seemingly their most promising insider information yet thanks to a report from Bloomberg, which claimed that the improvedSwitchwould include overall superior performance, as well as a slightly larger OLED display. Now, a notable OLED display manufacturer has mentioned the rumored console in a call with investors.

The news comes by way of SpawnWaveMedia over on Twitter, who posted a transcript from The Motley Fool of a recent investors call held by OLED display firm Universal Display Corporation. When speaking on the increasing popularity of OLED screens, company president, CEO, and director Steven Abramson noted thereports of a Nintendo Switch Proas an example of OLED technology further breaking into the video game market.

In the quarterly investors call, Abramson notes the benefits of OLED displays, such as higher contrast and faster response times, among other benefits like improved image quality, higher brightness, and more. It’s worth noting that the Universal Display Corp CEO’s mention of a Nintendo Switch Pro far from confirms its existence, but certainly goes to show the prevalence of the potential console’s rumors and speculation across not only the video game industry, but the tech landscape as well. Although nothing is confirmed as of yet, reports have come in thatSamsung may be responsiblefor developing the Switch Pro’s rumored 7-inch OLED displays.

At the moment, it seems that Nintendo fans are simply following a never-ending trail of breadcrumbs, which many hope will lead to a Switch Pro reveal at this year’s all-virtual E3 experience in June. These rumors have even been recently fueled byrecent comments made by Nintendo itself, saying that the company is always looking towards investing in future hardware.

Apart from an enhanced OLED display, other rumors surrounding a Nintendo Switch console revision include the prospect ofNvidia’s machine-learning DLSS technology,console-exclusive titles such as the sequel toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and improved graphical capabilities. Of course, at this rate, it seems only time will tell, and fans continue to look forward to E3 for any news of a Switch Pro.
