WhileMarvel’s Avengershas received mixed reactions fromfans and criticsso far in its young lifespan, one thing most people can agree on is that developer Crystal Dynamics nailed the in-game combat. Barreling through crowds of enemies as the Hulk hasn’tfelt this good since 2005, and soaring through the air firing rockets as Iron Man scratches that itch that Bioware whiffed at withAnthem.

Crystal Dynamics made every character and weapon feel fun to use inAvengers, but some weapons have proven to bestronger than others. And like Tony Stark, most players “prefer the weapon you only need to fire once.”
10Black Widow’s Veil Of Shadow
As a master of espionage, Natasha Romanov has the ability to cloak herself and her allies using her Support Heroic Ability, Veil of Shadow. This ability can be used to get out of a pinch during an intense firefight or to gain the upper hand on an unsuspecting group of enemies. Don’t let the cloak and dagger fool you though, as Black Widow is one of the deadliest characters players can use inMarvel’s Avengersthanks to her mastery of martial arts and diverse kit including customizable guns and stun weapons.
9MODOK
As the main antagonist inMarvel’s Avengers, scientist-turned-Inhuman George Tarleton as the villain MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) puts up a strong fight throughout the main campaign andas the final boss. Players see his Inhuman “condition” worsen throughout the main campaign as the effects of the Terrigen infection from A-Day worsen thanks to his assistant, AIM’s lead scientist Monica Rappaccini, causing his head to grow and his abilities to grow stronger. Equipped with psionic superpowers, lasers, and deadly mechanical arms, MODOK is a force to be reckoned with by the Avengers.
8Adaptoids
Adaptoids are every Avenger’s worst nightmare. After realizing she would never find a cure for being Inhuman, Dr. Rappaccini focused her attention on building and perfecting Adaptoids, which are programmable soldiers designed to use Avengers' and Inhumans' powers against them through replication.

Adaptoids come in all different varieties, including Cryo and Assault (fire), and have given players fits inMarvel’s Avengershigh-level endgame content.
7Black Widow’s Power Surge
Black Widow’s Ultimate Heroic Ability, Power Surge, equips her with an electrified baton staff that deals heavy damage with a large arsenal of sweeping and AOE attacks. One of the more powerful Heroics in the game, Power Surge also reduces incoming damage and can be made even more effective with the Power Staff specialization tree, which synergizes Power Surge with her Intrinsic Overcharge ability to deliver even more damage. Power Surge also increases the damage dealt by Black Widow’s deadly Assault Heroic Ability, Widow’s Bite, making it a versatile and powerful weapon.
6Iron Man’s Hulkbuster
Speaking of Ultimate Heroic Abilities,Iron Man’s Hulkbuster suitcertainly delivers a Hulk-sized wallop. While the Hulkbuster suit has limited mobility, it more than makes up for it with raw power and versatile utility. Players can use this ability to demolish tiny enemies, stand toe-to-toe with tougher ones like Adaptoids and Warbots, or as a get-out-of-jail-free card with its invulnerability and instant willpower regeneration. Tony can even let his fellow strike team members get in on the fun by letting them use his platform to equip the Hulkbuster.
5Cap’s Shield
Made out of virtually indestructible Adamantium, Captain America’s shield is one of the most recognizable weapons in the Marvel Universe.Cap can sling itat enemies from afar (including with his powerful Steamroller Assault Heroic Ability), slam it into the ground for a massive AOE attack, or parry incoming attacks and deliver a strong counterattack. Just because it’s a “shield” doesn’t mean it’s not one of the strongest weapons inMarvel’s Avengers, and it can even be used to reflect beams and projectiles back at enemies.
4Ms. Marvel’s Stretchy Arms
Marvel’s Avengersheartwarming, relatable fan-girl protagonist Kamala Khan comes across as innocent and harmless in early missions but turns into an unstoppable force after the A-Day accident which turns her into an Inhuman.

As Ms. Marvel, her superpower is her ability to stretch and morph her body, including becoming a giant with her Embiggen Ultimate Heroic Ability, gliding and leaping across the terrain with her stretchy legs, and brawling with enemies up close and from afar with her stretchy arms. The only thing bigger than Ms. Marvel’sunstoppable stretchy limbs is her heart.
3Mjolnir
Another iconic and instantly recognizable Avenger’s weapon is Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Only wield-able by those who are deemed “worthy” (of which theremay be more than only the son of Odin), Mjolnir allows Thor to wield the power of thunder and lightning in his hands. Thor can throw it at enemies to pin them down and deliver shock attacks by charging his hammer with his Intrinsic Odinforce Ability. There’s no sound quite likethe “clang” of Thor’s hammersmashing through a Dreadbot’s armor.
2Hulk’s Fists
Just because it doesn’t shoot or can’t be held in someone’s hand doesn’t mean it’s not a weapon. Hulk is arguably the most fun Avenger to play as in the game, and any AIM soldier can attest to the fact thatHulk’s fists are the strongestinMarvel’s Avengers. When Dr. Banner gets angry, the “big guy” can use his fists to batter through bad guys, pick up and throw pieces of the earth, and even wield small enemies as weapons. A single clap of Hulk’s hands can wipe out a small army, no fancy suits needed.
1Ant Man’s Pym Particle Cannon
Sadly, Hank Pym never suits up as Ant Man inMarvel’s Avengersthanks to a condition that would kill him if he tries to shrink, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t get involved in the action. At the end of the “Agony and the Ant Hill” campaign mission, Dr. Pym single-handedly defeats a mega-sized AIM Warbot (which required 4 Avengers to beat just seconds earlier) with his newly finished weapon that shrinks the Warbot to the size of a rodent. For obvious balance reasons, players never get a chance to wield the all-powerful prototype weapon (although one can dream…)
