The Twitter account for Prime Video showed off its current and upcoming slate of projects with a short video. TheGen VTwitter account replied with a screenshot from the video that says, “New SeriesGen VSeptember.” Additionally, the Twitter bio forGen Vsays, “enrolling this September.” An exact date has not been confirmed, but with September being about two months away, fans can expect a specific date announcement soon.
A couple of weeks ago, showrunner Erik Kripke announcedThe Boysseason 4 will not be releaseduntil after the writers’ strike is resolved, even though they had finished filming. Some fans were worried that this might also affect the release ofGen V. Although Kripke is heavily involved, the spinoff does have different showrunners and will release despite the writers’ strike.
However,Gen Vwill still be indirectly affected by the actors’ strike. Prime Video does not need the actors for any more filming related to the series, but due to the strike, actors are asked not to do any promotion for their projects. This includes appearances at the premier andSan Diego Comic-Con. Additionally, the actors can’t do interviews or film any promotional videos. This may partially be why the exact date has not been announced, as they hope that the actors’ strike will be resolved quickly so they can promote the series.
Gen Vwill take place at Godolkin University, also known as God U, a school for supes run by Vought International. The students in the series will compete for the best contracts in the best cities, and the show will have some aspects ofThe Hunger Games. The series creators have said that it will be a raunchysatire just likeThe Boys, but the young age of the characters should make some of the scenes even more shocking than what fans have seen inThe Boys.
Gen Vis scheduled to premiere in September 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.
