Toy Soldiers, the action-strategy series featuring army men and other toys in a realistic war scenario, is back. Developer Signal Studios made the announcement by updating the officialToy Soldierswebsite with an all-new section forToy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour. But the reveals didn’t stop there. The website also features tabs forToy Soldiers HDandToy Soldiers: Cold War HD, remasters/upgrades of the first twoToy Soldiersgames.
Toy Soldiers 2is the biggest part of the announcement, for sure. And while it’s difficult to discernToy Soldiers 2’s exact feature list from its website, there’s definitely some exciting information to be found. Confirmed so far is improved multiplayer, co-op, competitive mini-games, and also new survival modes. All of this content surrounding aWorld War 2theme, with confirmed stages including Dunkirk, Normandy, and the battle in the Pacific. Germany, Britain, Japan, the USSR, and the USA will all be represented.

What isn’t available yet is a release window forToy Soldiers 2. Even the game’s first trailer isn’t readily available, as it’s embedded in the game’s website and can’t be shared. While a release date isn’t available yet, it is known thatToy Soldiers 2: Finest Hourwill be coming to PC, PS4,Switch, and Xbox One.
Perhaps just as exciting as the sequel announcement is the confirmation that Signal Studios is working on not just remasters of the original twoToy Soldiersgames, but overhauls with new content.Toy Soldiers HD, available on Nintendo Switch this spring, will not only have updatedHD graphics, but will also have new content, new options, and an entirely new difficulty to play through. Even the original game’s DLC will be implemented into the campaign fluidly.
Toy Soldiers: Cold War HDis also coming to the Nintendo Switch, though it’ll be out this summer rather than in the spring. It doesn’t seem to be receiving the same overhaul as the original game, perhaps because it has aged a bit better. Without further information, it seemsToy Soldiers: Cold War HDwill be a morestandard remaster.
For those wondering about the thirdToy Soldiersgame,Toy Soldiers: War Chest, there’s no word. To be fair,Toy Soldiers: War Chestis already available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s broadly available to play, though it isn’t on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps Signal Studios is content with the state of things, or perhaps it’s just not interested in further work on the game. It’s a bit of an oddity compared to the other games, since it features other types of toys than just war toys.
