As you spend more time inUnicorn Overlord, you’ll begin torecruit more and more team membersfrom the overworld. Most of them will put up a fight, and you’ll need to decide whether it is worth it or not to let them onboard the Liberation Army. One of these people is Mandrin.

Mandrin will first appear as an enemy attacking and pillaging the nearby church, though with seemingly good intentions. It is up to you whether you wish to execute him, or take him in. Here’s what you can gain from choosing between the two options you are presented with.

Where to Find Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord

Mandrin is an enemy soldier you’ll meet early on inUnicorn Overlord. Specifically, you’ll find him inThe Winged Knightmission, where you’ll be given the chance to recruit Sharon. you may find this mission in the southwestern section of Cornia, shown on the map image above.

The enemies in this mission will only be aroundLevel 4, so this should be an easy one to finish. If you’re struggling tolevel up quickly, our guide should help you catch up and defeat your future opponents with ease.

Should You Free or Execute Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord

At the end of the mission, a cutscene will occur betweenAlain, Ochlys, and Mandrin. You will be presented with the option to either execute or free Mandrin, who was caught pillaging the local church. However, it seems that he had done so to feed some of his people. Here’s what you’ll get from either choice.

Recruit Sharon, 1x Bronze Bangle, 1x Holy Herb, Plaevian Orthodoxy, 15x Divine Shards

The only difference here is that choosing to execute Mandrin will give you an additional15 Divine Shards. However, we highly recommend freeing Mandrin, as you’ll be able to recruit him later in the game. Also, you caneasily find Divine Shardsthrough other methods, so you won’t be missing out on much.

How to Recruit Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord

If you choose to free Mandrin, you’ll have the chance to recruit him later on during theA Shifting Tidemission. To find this mission, you’ll need to reach the eastern section of Elheim, the area just below Cornia on the left. The map image above will show you the exact location. You’ll need to have leveled up quite a bit before taking this mission, however, as the enemies will be aroundLevel 17.

At the beginning of A Shifting Tide, you’llmeet withGammel,Celeste, andMandrin. You’ll fight alongside the three to defeat Cesar and his men. If you’re successful, the three will join your team after Gammel and Mandrin choose to change their ways. You won’t have to make any decisions on this mission, as they will all join your team automatically.
