It looks like a select group of people have taken it upon themselves to review-bombValoranton Metacritic. The score has dropped considerably from when it first launched and seems to be getting lower.
BecauseValorant’s beta did incredibly well, it’s not clear why exactly it ended up the target of review-bombing. However, one can probably make an educated guess from the reviews' attached comments. Overall, they suggest that a fewCounter-Strike: Global Offensivefans aren’t happy with the game.

Most of the negative reviews callValoranta “CS:GOclone,” along with claiming that it has terrible graphics, slow pacing, and uninteresting guns.Valorant’s anti-cheat softwarecomes up in some of the negative reviews as well.
At the time of this writing,Valoranthas over 1500 fan reviews and more than half of them are negative. The sheer amount has left the game with an overall score of 5.7 out of 10.
Metacritic’s critic review score forValorantlooks vastly different by comparison. As of right now, it stands at an 83 out of 100, with only one review giving it a mixed rating.
Some of the criticisms leveled against the game may be valid, but the amount of 0 scores that the game has received thus far suggests foul play.Valorant’s official releaseisn’t much different from the beta either, so it shouldn’t have such an opinion-swaying dip in quality.
Most gamers don’t take review aggregates and user review scores as seriously now as they did in the past because of tactics like this. It’s hard to say whether or not that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but inValorant’s case, the scores might not have as significant of an impact. The game is free to play, so anyone with a decent PC can try it out for themselves if they’re curious.
Regardless, the full version foValoranthas only been around for five days and is only starting to find its audience and competitive scene. Riot Games has had tremendous success withLeague of Legendsas both a casual online experience and a legitimate esport, and it hopes thatValorantfills a similar role in the FPS space. There are some hardcore FPS players that don’t like the game’s mix ofOverwatchandCounter-Strike, but plenty think it is a fresh twist on the genre.
