In 2019, Wlad Marhulets of Unfold Games released horror puzzle/platformerDarq.Darqreceived mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it still earned praise for its creepy atmosphere. The next project from Marhulets and Unfold Games looks to be significantly more ambitious thanDarq, trading that game’s puzzle/platformer gameplay forStardew Valley-inspired simulation, but while retaining its horror aesthetic.

Bloody Hell Hotelis Marhulets' next project, as revealed by IGN. It’s a first-person simulation game whereplayers are a vampirerunning a hotel, tasked with meeting guests' needs, but also able to kill them to enhance one’s vampiric powers.Bloody Hell Hotelplayers can farm crops, craft weapons, manage the hotel (which can include feeding the guests human meat), and even go dungeon-crawling to fight enemies like zombies. Speaking to IGN, Marhulets comparedBloody Hell Hotel’s dungeon crawling as “exploring caves inStardew Valley, but in a twisted Tim Burton-like 3D world.”

On paper,Bloody Hell Hoteldoes sound like a first-person twist on theStardew Valleysimulation formula. The first-person view, horror aesthetic, and modern-looking graphics really help it stand out from its inspiration, however. TheTim Burton-inspired charactersare also readily apparent by the reveal trailer, and so fans of Burton’s work orStardew Valleyshould both be intrigued byBloody Hell Hotel.

Bloody Hell Hotelis currently without a release date, and console gamers may be disappointed to learn that, at the time of this writing, it’s only aiming for release on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.Darqwas a PC-only game at first as well, though it eventually made its way to consoles, so there’s hope forBloody Hell Hotelto do the same. There’s already quite a bit of buzz aboutBloody Hell Hotelonline, so maybe fans will luck out and won’t have to wait too long for the console version.

It was confirmed by IGN thatBloody Hell Hotelwill not have an early access period, which is abnormal for PC-only games in its genre. While this means fans may have to wait a bit longer to playBloody Hell Hotelfor themselves, the good news is that it should launch as a content-complete game and may avoid making a bad first impression, like someearly access titlestend to do. Hopefully fans don’t have to wait too much longer for more information onBloody Hell Hoteland when exactly they’ll be able to check it out for themselves.
