Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguewas revealed just over a year ago, but there is still very little known about what players can expect from Rocksteady’s newest superhero title. Fans of the studio and itsBatman Arkhamseries were understandably excited as the studio’s last release was all the way back in 2015 with the release ofBatman: Arkham Knight.Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguewas even more exciting for fans as it offers the opportunity to play four very different characters who are on the other side of the eternal conflict between good and evil than players are used to.
The game was also hinted at in small scenes as part ofBatman: Arkham KnightandBatman Origins Blackgate, as Rocksteady has confirmed that the game will take place in the same universe as its previous titles. It has also been confirmed thatSuicide Squadwill feature four-player co-op play while allowing players to play alone if they wish to. Excitement for the game was also helped along by the recentrelease of DC’s movieThe Suicide Squad, which featured some of the same characters as the game. Now, it has been confirmed thatSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguewill be included with the upcoming DC FanDome event, and there are some big things that would be great to see.

Little is known aboutSuicide Squadother than the first four characters that players will be able to play in the co-op shooter. This has left interested players waiting to see exactly what kind of game it really is. It is possible thatSuicide Squadis a live service game akin toMarvel’s Avengers.Marvel’s Avengerssees players jumping into missions as one of various characters to level them up and chase better loot to be able to tackle harder difficulties. Live service games likeMarvel’s Avengershave gotten pretty popular in recent years, especially withMarvel’s Avengersfrequently adding new characters, missions, and events for players to return to. With the deep pool of DC characters available,Suicide Squadcould very well take a similar approach to be a pillar game for DC fans.

It is also possible thatSuicide Squadwill take a different approach, and will focus more on delivering an experience more similar to itsBatman: Arkhamseries by giving players a co-op campaign for players to play through together with one of the four characters. It also could be possible for Rocksteady to take a few other approaches as well. The setup ofSuicide Squadcould also work very well with a structure similar to games likeLeft 4 Deadorthe upcomingBack 4 Bloodthat see players teaming up to play through more disjointed missions against hordes of enemies. This would work very well as the developers could create a number of various missions with different objectives and settings that the team is sent out on.
DC announced another title that fans are excitedly waiting for more news on titledGotham Knights,a two-player action RPG that lets players play as one of four superheroes, although little else is known about it. With how little is known about both titles, it seems as though the two titles could be two sides of the same coin. This leaves FanDome 2021 in a great position to show players exactly how the two are different from one another deeper than one featuring heroes and the other villains. Fans have already called forGotham Knightsto answer some questionsat the event, andSuicide Squadwill have to answer some of its own to ensure it doesn’t get buried underGotham Knightsnews.

It would be fantastic for FanDome to show fans exactly what experience both games are aiming to deliver players. The two could ultimately end up being rather similar, with both featuring characters that foster unique playstyles as well as featuring any similar characters or plot points. It does not seem likely thatGotham Knightswill be set in theBatman: Arkhamuniverse since it is not developed by Rocksteady, so FanDome should also dedicate some time to establishing what makes the world ofSuicide Squaddifferent from that of the DC Cinematic UniverseandGotham Knights.
FanDome 2021 should also take the chance to show players exactly howSuicide Squadplays to help get fans hyped for the game. Showing off gameplay, or explaining what the different characters can do will play a massive role in fans determining whether or not to check out the game. The playablecharacters will undoubtedly play a big role inSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and it will be very interesting to see how they each are represented in the game. It seems very likely that King Shark will play very differently than the likes of Harley Quinn or Deadshot, but there are many ways a shooter game can be structured and developed.
It could be that the game is a cover-based shooter similar toThe Divisionwith King Shark playing the role of a more tanky character that can make space for his squad. It could also be thatSuicide Squadis more similar to aBorderlandstitle with each character equipping different pieces of equipment and having unique abilities to take advantage of like Captain Boomerang having an auto-lock boomerang to take out enemies behind cover or Deadshot having an explosive shot to take the armor off bullet sponge enemies. With the game’s trailer seeming to confirm thatSuperman will appear inSuicide Squadit will be very interesting to see how it handles the gameplay and its story, and it would be unwise for FanDome to leave fans waiting for a peek at what to expect from the game’s mechanics, especially if the developers want to manage the expectations of players.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leagueis currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
