It’s difficult to predict what Capcom has in store for the upcoming event, but if it does happen in April, then the 25th-anniversary event will take place at least a month before the release ofResident Evil Village. Given thatVillageis a mainlineResident Evilgame, the event will likely center around hyping fans for the upcoming game instead of other projects that are still far off the schedule. Capcom has released various trailers, gameplay previews, and a playable PS5 demo forResident Evil Village.A second demo will likely be announced at the 25th-anniversary event alongside more details onResident Evil Village’sstory, characters, gameplay, and setting.
In-Depth Showcase of Resident Evil Re: Verse
Another game that could take away the spotlight fromResident Evil 4 RemakeisResident Evil Re: Verse. For the uninitiated,Capcom announced the development ofResident Evil: Re: Verselast January, and the game would be a versus multiplayer game that features four to six-person deathmatch battles. Capcom also revealedResident Evil Re: Verseis being developed to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. A couple of days ago, Capcom revealed the open beta dates forResident Evil Re: Verse’smultiplayer, and more information about the game alongside additional characters will likely be revealed at the 25th-anniversary event next month.
A Small Tease of Resident Evil 4 Remake is Still Possible
It remains to be seen whether Capcom will reveal the long-rumored remake ofResident Evil 4at next month’s event, but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Apart fromResident Evil: VillageandRe: Versetaking center stageat the anniversary event, it is unlikely for Capcom to reveal a new project, especially now that a mainlineResident Evilgame is on the verge of release. Additionally, Capcom’s release pattern of games could suggest thatRE4Remake is not ready to be revealed just yet.
It is worth noting thatResident Evil 2 Remakewas released in January 2020, andResident Evil 3 Remakewas announced almost a year later in December 2020 and was released in April 2021. Capcom never revealed the survey result, but it is clear that the company is interested in doing another reimagining of a classicResident Evilgame. Although a full-fledged reveal ofResident Evil 4 Remakeis unlikely, it wouldn’t be impossible if the company would be giving out a small tease during the event to keep fans interested.
