Each new phase forWorld of Warcraft Classic:Season of Discoverybringsnew Runes for every class, including a variety of new Warlock Runes forSoD Phase 4. In addition to new P4 Warlock Runes for the Cloak slot, there are a variety of Warlock Ring Runes to choose from which grant a variety of skill bonuses, intended to level the playing field at max level.
Though there are lots of new Warlock Runes that complement those introduced inPhase 1 and Phase 2, andin Phase 3, some of these older Runes may have been removed and replaced, or changed entirely. This guide details what the new Warlock Cloak Runes and Warlock Ring Runes do in SoD P4, and explains what (if any) Runes were removed and replaced with new options.
Updated July 06, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: There are three new SoD P4 Warlock Cloak Runes, and several new Phase 4 Warlock Ring Runes, that players can collect in the latest phase for Season of Discovery. After a particularly productive weekend after the release of SoD Phase 4, Warlock Runes locations have all been discovered. This guide has been updated to include detailed instructions to find all new Warlock Runes Phase 4 introduced, including specific coordinates to help you hone in on the exact location of every new Warlock Rune SoD P4 players can get.
Decimation Effects
How To Get Decimation Rune: The Phase 4 Decimation Rune location is yet another Warlock Rune that can only be acquired by using the Fel Rift system introduced in Phsae 3. Go to the Burning Steppes to get a Legion Portal Tuner from Fel Rifts, then go to the Blasted Lands and use it on a Fel Scar to transform it. These special Portals have a chance to yield a Portal Tuner Tuner item, which can be combined with the Legion Portal Tuner to create an Overcharged Portal Tuner. Use this on a Fel Scar in the Blasted Lands to get the Rune of Decimation.
Infernal Armor Effects
How To Get Infernal Armor Rune: The SoD Infernal Armor Rune location is in the Blasted Lands. Defeat any Shadowsown enemy to get a Shadowsworn Note item. Then, find the cave near (67, 31) and look for an altar at the very end of the cave. At this Altar, summon a Voidwalker, and Sacrifice it while holding a Greater Spellstone, and with Shadow Ward active. Interact with the Altar to summon an Elite enemy, which must be defeated to earn this Rune. As long as you can withstand the damage that the Altar deals on interact, the Elite enemy is not too bad to handle at Level 60.
How To Get Mark of Chaos Rune: The SoD Mark of Chaos Rune location is in the Western Plaguelands. Look for the Skeletal Flayer enemy to the east of the Bulwark. Use Drain Soul on this enemy to get Plagued Soul Shards. Do this three times, then go to your faction’s nearest hub (either The Bulwark or Chillwind Camp) and turn them into either Pixi Pilfershard (Alliance) or Prazik Pilfershard (Horde) to get the Rune of Mark of Chaos.
New Warlock Ring Runes In P4
All Warlock Ring Runes follow the same unlock method – find specific books somewhere in the world, and you will unlock Ring Runes that your Skill for particular class weapons and spell specializations. At Max Level, against elite higher-than-60 mobs, having a +5 to your weapon or spell skills makes it significantly less likely that you will miss attacks and casts.
Thesenew Runes give every classthe ability to boost two of their Weapon Skills, Spell Specializations, or Defense Skills by a small, but not insignificant, amount. When it comes to new Warlock Ring Runes,WoW SoDplayers have six choices.
How To Get Fire Specialization Rune: To find the Fire Specialization Rune location, head to the Searing Gorge to the Slag Pit and look for Overseer Maltorius’s room, above the Archeologist area of the Slag Pit, where the Red Book is found on a table. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40.5, 35.5).
How To Get Shadow Specialization Rune: To find the Shadow Specialization Rune location, head to the very northern branch of the Tainted Scar in the Blasted Lands to find this Red Book resting on an Altar. This Phase 4 Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (32.5, 49).
How To Get Dagger Specialization Rune: To find the Dagger Specialization Rune location, head to the far southwest of Silithus to the Burning Blade camp and look for this Red Book in one of the first tents. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (20.5, 19.5).
How To Get Defense Specialization Rune: To find the Defense Specialization Rune location, head to Lower Blackrock Spire, specifically to its meeting stone near the instance portal. The Red Book should be inside a side room near the Meeting Stone. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (29.5, 38).
How To Get Pole Weapon Rune: To find the Pole Weapon Specialization Rune location, head to the Temple or Arkkoran in Azshara and look for this Rune Specialization book on top of an altar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (78, 38).
How To Get Sword Specialization Rune: To find the Sword Specialization Rune location, go to Deadwind Pass to Karazhan and look for a cave near the Master’s Cellar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (43, 74.5) inside this cave.
