How to Increase Contacts in XCOM 2

Players are limited to only three Contacts at the start ofa game ofXCOM 2, and expanding that number should be one of their first goals. To begin with, players will need to complete the research project Resistance Comms, which will become available after the first Guerilla Ops mission has been completed. Once this is done, players will unlock the ability to build Resistance Comms facilities in the Avenger.

Comms facilities cost between 110 and 160 Supplies based on difficulty, consume 3 Power, and take 16 days to build. Each Comms facility will raise the Contacts cap by 1, and an additional 2 if it’s staffed by an Engineer. Players who are looking to maximize the space onXCOM 2’s sci-fiaircraft, the Avenger, will want to later upgrade their Resistance Comms, at the cost of 125-190 Supplies and 4 Power. This will not only raise the Contacts cap by another 1, but will also provide a slot for a second Engineer that will raise the cap by 4.

The Importance of Contacts in XCOM 2

Getting new Contacts is vital tothe campaign ofXCOM 2, as the XCOM program must unite the world in resistance against the alien government. While it is possible to sometimes perform missions outside of Contact territory, having a large part of the globe covered will give players much more choice on which targets to go for.

In addition, each Contact increases the monthly Supplies that the player receives fromXCOM’s mysterious Central, making it a vital source of income along with missions and selling salvage. Finally, contacting all the resistances on a continent will grant that continent’s special bonus, a powerful effect that will last for the rest of the game.

XCOM 2is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Mobile, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
