How to Start The “Crossed Words” Substory in Yakuza 0
The player can start"Crossed Words” (Substory 57)while playing asMajima Goroin Sotenbori duringChapter 3ofYakuza 0. The player should visitKani Douraku, a distinctive Sotenbori restaurant recognizable by its enormous crab sign,inspired by a real restaurantin Osaka’s Dotonbori district.
Outside Kani Douraku, Majima encounters a young couple in the midst of an argument. The “Frantic Man” chides the “Frustrated Young Woman,” whose frustration grows with each passing moment. Intrigued, Majima intervenes to understand the situation. The Frantic Man presents a crossword puzzle he created and explains it to Majima, who has never encountered one before.
Shizuku, the girl in the couple, reveals that this latest crossword puzzle made by her boyfriend, Kosaku, is excessively challenging, and she wants to give up on solving it. Kosaku, taken aback by this, desperately urges Shizuku to continue attempting to solve the puzzle. Initially, Majima plans to leave them to resolve their issue on their own. However, Kosaku pulls Majima aside and confides that the puzzle holds profound significance.

Apparently, Kosaku intends to propose to Shizuku using the solved crossword puzzle, and fears that if she fails to solve it, he will lose his chance. Pleading with Majima for assistance, the player can choose to agree in which case they will all enter the restaurant together to tackle the puzzle.
Kosaku entices Shizuku with crab and claims that she’ll have no trouble solving the puzzle with Majima’s expertise in crossword puzzles, despite Shizuku being present earlier when Kosaku explained the basic concept of one to Majima. The two of them collaborate on solving the questions, guided by Shizuku’s assertive prompting.
