The next installment in what is a growingArmy of the Deadcinematic universe is officially on the way. Zack Snyder talked in a recent interview about how his plans forArmy of the DeadandArmy of Thievestie together, while also spilling the beans for the next installment in the franchise.
Up until now, the sequel to the popular Netflix original movie was simply being referred to asArmy of the Dead 2. However, it’s long been known that there would be some other title for the movie that would hint at just what audiences can expect to see in the follow-up.

Now that the safe-cracking prequelArmy of Thieveshas also officially hit Netflix, Snyder apparently felt it was time to shed a bit more light on what fans can expect next, including what they can actually call the third installment. Snyder spoke to Inverse about some behind-the-scenes story beats when it came toArmy of the DeadandArmy of Thieves. In talking about those two projects he also let it slip that the next movie in the series is going to be calledPlanet of the Dead. So far, beyond the title, there isn’t a ton known about where the story is going to go, or for that matter, how it’s going to get there.
One aspect ofPlanet of the Deadwould seem to be that it’s going to have a mostly new cast. Most of the gang that went into Las Vegas to try and pull off a heist in the middle of a zombie horde were killed off in a rather brutal fashion. However, Snyder did also hint that there might be at least one person who might be coming back to take on the surprisinglysmart zombies that populatedArmy of the Dead. Snyder said that there was a chance that Dieter - the only character to make an appearance in both films - could also pop up in the third one. He admitted that the audience didn’t see Zeus kill him, so there’s a chance he’s not dead just yet.
WhilePlanet of the Deadseems to hint that the Las Vegas outbreak has spread, there is a chance that the story could be traveling to a whole other planet. Not longafterArmy of the Deadwas released, Snyder made it clear that there were robots embedded in the horde and admitted those robots could hint at aliens being behind the undead.
Just whatArmy of the Dead’s plot will entail is still unknown. However, one has to wonder if viewers might get to see even morezombie animals inPlanet of the Dead.
