A player ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas crucified a Korok during its escort mission. It wouldn’t be the first timethe poor Koroks have been humiliated in such a mannersince the game launched.
Koroks have been a semi-staple in theZeldaseries, being descendants ofOcarina of Time’s Kokiri. They’ve had their own side quest in all three of their appearances, withTears of the Kingdomoffering one similar to that of its predecessor,Breath of the Wild. The variant in that game was rather infamous among the community for its bloated length and lack of a worthwhile reward for gathering all 900 seeds, so many fans were probably not happy to see it return here. Thankfully, the freedom-based gameplay allows players to give the little rascals their just desserts.

In a TikTok that has garnered 1.6 million views, user huntevs showed off an eleven-second clip of their Link riding horseback through a grassy part of Hyrule, towing a handcrafted wooden cart with a cross in the back, courtesy ofthe game’s brand new Ultrahand ability. A stranded Korok is mounted right in the dead center of it. To add to the Christian theme of the video, “Dorime” by Ameno’s Hybrid Orchestra plays in the background. The user did not specify if the purpose was to seek revenge on the Korok or just to show off their creativity and sense of humor, but the caption, “Korogcristl world tour” does hint toward the latter.
Some in the comments noted that other players have committed similar acts against Koroks sinceTears of the Kingdom’s launch, and many appeared gleeful that one was being crucified, given the infamy of the last game’s quest andthe insulting reward for going the extra mile. As shown in pre-release footage, the Korok Seed quest has been altered somewhat, with some Koroks now being out in the open and having to be moved to various locations in order to get their seeds. Even with the quest itself being changed, it remains a mystery as to what the reward will be for one’s hard work.
Thanks to the new abilities granted to Link in this game, the room for creativity has been exponentially expanded sinceBreath of the Wild. With playersinventing cool new vehiclesand weapons to make use of during their quest, the possibilities for exploring Hyrule and steamrolling Ganondorf are borderline limitless.
