A more recent example of this came from Reddit user InspiraSean86, who didn’t discover the Sun Pumpkin crop inZelda: Tears of the Kingdomuntil after they had already played for a whopping 250 hours. This is because Link can’t get Sun Pumpkins until players have completed the Homegrown in Hateno side quest, which has some other side quests that have to be completed before its even accessible. Combine this with the fact that it’s easy for players to go through the vast majority of the game without stepping foot inHateno Village, and it’s no surprise that the Reddit user and many in the comments have played the game for hundreds of hours without ever seeing a Sun Pumpkin for themselves.
Sun Pumpkins aren’t a particularly important crop inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but like other materials in the game, they can be used in recipes to create more useful dishes.Cooking food inZelda: Tears of the Kingdomis hugely important as players can use it to replenish lost hearts, boost their stamina, and obtain status effects that can help them explore areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.
As evidenced by this discovery and others like it,Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s world is massive enough that it should keep even the most hardcore players busy for weeks if not months to come. Those who have somehow already seen everything that the base game has to offer may be holding out hope for someTears of the KingdomDLC, but Nintendo has yet to actually announce any at the time of this writing.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
